There are counter irritants, which use menthol or methylsalicylate to create a tingling sensation which distracts your mind from the pain. There are Salicylates, which have similar incrediants to asprin and are very good for getting into deep joint pain. You may also wish to try capsaicin, whose main ingredient is hot chili peppers and givings a little bit of a burning sensation when used.
